Using only the finest Annie Sloan chalk paints, waxes and brushes, the sideboards I work on provide both a functional storage solution and a stylish focal point for the home and, as such, can be used in virtually any room of the house – subject to space, obviously! The painted and waxed surfaces are wipe clean and are really easy to maintain in years to come.
I often sand the tops of the more chunkier sideboards, and I love trying out new colours with different shades of Oak or Pine. The level of ‘distressing’ of paint very much depends on the piece and the details and shape of the furniture can very much lead this decision. I have done commission pieces in block colour and am quite happy to do this again although I must admit I love the character distressing adds to a piece.
The contemporary edge to Annie Sloan’s 33 colours means that each hand-painted sideboard I sell can be used in both traditional or contemporary homes. Whilst many of my customers are from the Midlands – Cannock, Lichfield, Wolverhampton or Stafford, many more of my pieces now live in homes up and down the country.
